Greetings Friend,
I want to let you know that we just sold out of the second order of MSK-1 (the BIG) knives that are CURRENTLY shipping and are in the final stages of being manufactured.
So... if you are a Kickstarter Backer or have placed a Pre-Order before May 13th, 2017 - You are ALL GOOD!
Your MSK-1 is in production NOW... and our GOAL is to have all Kickstarter Pledges and Pre-Orders fulfilled before July 31st, 2017.
For Anyone Ordering from May 13th, 2017 on...
I will be placing our third order soon to begin production of more MSK-1s (the BIG knives).
So, to be conservative, we will likely NOT be shipping NEW MSK-1 (Big Knife) orders placed from May 13th, 2017 on - until October 2017. I'll know more once I place the next order.
But the Pre-Order site now says we are shipping Pre-Orders in October.
LET ME CLEARLY STATE that this does NOT affect YOU if you pre-ordered before May 13th, 2017.
One last thing... this date ONLY affects MSK-1 Survival Knives (the Big Ones).
We still have MKS-1 Mini Neck Knives in Stock AND All the Other Sheaths and Add-Ons will be in stock with some EXTRA quantities available for sale. (So you can continue to add to and upgrade your MSK-1 System.)
But even if we sell out of any NON-Knife items, our turn-around time for restocking MOST of these items is only about 30 days, opposed to approximately 90 days for knives.
Okay, that's it for now...
I just didn't want anyone to panic when they go to the Pre-Order Website and see that the Ship Date is moved back to October 2017.
This date is for NEW Orders placed from May 13th, 2017 on...
Finally, know that we are working hard to get all of your MSK-1 Knifes Systems out ASAP!

Howdy!
First, WHERE Have I (David) Been?
Well, it’s been well over two weeks since I (David) had eye surgery, which has followed with a VERY, VERY slow recovery.
Why am I telling you this?
Well, it boils down to me not being able to see to use a computer, answer emails or respond to messages.
I expected to be fully functional within 3 - 5 days (after my surgery), but was not prepared for the nearly three weeks of essentially not being able to see much. So I apologize to you guys for not keeping up with responding to emails and not posting a update in a while.
Plus... I like to have something worth saying, when I post an update... and I think today I do. Here goes...
MSK-1 Update...
So while I have been sight impaired - our team of MSK-1, Ninja, Knife-Building Elves have been working hard behind the scenes to assemble knives and prep out many of your orders.

So far we’ve got over 200 knives out to Kickstarter Backers with a mother load of nearly 300 more ALMOST ready to ship.
We've been getting a bunch of great feedback from happy campers who have gotten their knives. If you’ve received your knife, we’d love to here what you think. Please send comment to us via email to: [email protected]
SO What’s Shipping Next?
Shipping next are MSK-1 Knife System Packages with the ACS Nylon Sheath and Nylon Kit pouches to Kickstarter Backers.
These nylon sheaths were supposed to arrive at the end of April - but (as with just about everything else) the manufacturer had some problems. No one ever said this would be easy.
The good news is that these sheaths ARE shipping from the Pacific Northwestern USA to my location in Pennsylvania tomorrow (Tuesday May 9th)… So I should have them by the end of the week (next Monday at the latest).
This means we should be able to start shipping a boatload more of Kickstarter orders by early next week.
After this, we will begin shipping Kickstarter Orders that included the Bad A _ _ tan Combat / Tactical Sheaths. After this we’ll begin to ship Pre-Ordered MSK-1 Knife Systems.
If all goes as planned - I am hoping to have every pre-order fulfilled before the end of July. Obviously many before then.
Just know that I can’t really give anyone specific dates since knives are flowing in here at irregular rates and in varying quantities.
But I promise to you that whatever we have in stock to ship (as far as knives) they are going out as fast as humanly possible to you!
Old Manufacturers Fired - New Ones Hired...
You should also know that in December we pretty much sold out of my original order of MSK-1s and Mini knives. So I needed to place a second order in late 2016 to handle the influx of Pre-Orders...
Due to the SUPER crappy job several of our original knife manufacturers did keeping deadlines (which is why we are approaching a year since our Kickstarter launched), Jeff and I fired most of them and have been working with a new manufacturer in upstate New York just 4 hours from where I live.
Moving forward, this company has been around for nearly 100 years, makes fantastic knives and has a TON of capacity.
They are beginning to finish out my second order of MSK-1s and Minis which is plenty to cover all of your orders.
This company is excited to partner with us so it’s nice to know that future MSK-1 production will be consolidated under one roof and done from beginning to end by one company who is committed to keeping their promised delivery dates. Imagine that...
Heck, I can even do a day trip and drive up there and check on things. MUCH better than production being focused in the Pacific Northwest between 5 or 6 different manufacturers.
When will you know your MSK-1 is coming?
As I have mentioned before, you will know we are shipping to you soon, once you receive an email from us to check / confirm your mailing address. Once we ship, you WILL receive a shipping confirmation.
Oh… and sorry to you all who received this email like 3 weeks ago… I jumped the gun and sent out the email before I received the nylon sheaths (that I am still waiting for). I should know better by now - but I was over zealous and optimistic that something was actually going to arrive to me on time :)

I was committed to NOT posting another update until I could tell you we are starting to ship... BUT, we ARE now ready to start shipping and will continue until all pledges and pre-orders are fulfilled.

109 MSK-1 Knives - FOUND… WHAT?!

Well, I’ll be jiggered! So I just got a phone call that 109 MKS-1 knives were lost, but now are found!
Here’s the Story (You totally can’t make this stuff up :)
Weeks ago, the solid (doable) goal I was given for delivery of the first MSK-1 knives (the big ones) was either the last week of February or (at the latest) the first week of March. Everything was FINALLY aligning! Whew…
So, the last week of February rolled in… No knives.
Calls and emails go out from me.
Silence…
This week. More calls and emails go out.
Silence. So quiet, I hear nothing but crickets.
Frenzy of calls, and emails. Nothing… until minutes ago.
“Ping” - Message comes in to my MacBook Pro…
“David, the first 109 MSK-1s were lost in shipping - but have been found!”
“WHAT!?”
Immediate phone call follows.
The voice on the other side of the call is surprisingly calm and explains…
“So, the first 109 MSK-1 knives were powder-coated [one of the final steps in production] and supposedly shipped from the company who does the coating, to the company who does the laser marking. But they never arrived.
We all scrambled trying to figure out what the heck happened to the knives… and didn’t want to worry you with a call… But then the search extended into almost two weeks.
Anyway, to make a long story short, the knives have been found, and somehow ended up at the wrong place where they have been sitting for nearly two weeks.
They are now at the laser marking company… and next week we will start to sharpen them and ship to you. You should see them start rolling in around March 13th or 14th, ready to ship.”
In retrospect… it’s probably better I didn’t know until this was fixed. Yep, much better :)
Now… “They” tell me, that, “this is what happens,” in the first production run when you make something that didn’t exist before.
Even though it’s not my first designing rodeo, this has been a much “wilder ride” than any I’ve ever been on.
Am I Crazy?
MSK-1 is a VERY ambitious project!!! I knew this from the start… I just didn’t know how ambitious it really was… Now I do.
Nearly 40 part numbers make up the MSK-1 Survival Knife System and most of these NEVER existed before…

I have had people from some of the largest gear brands in the world tell me, “David, what were you thinking… and how in the world did you pull this off? It’s pretty amazing!”
Simply put, I wanted to design the knife “system” that I had dreamed about for years… and I figured I had one shot to get this right…
But I have learned…
Dreaming of something that didn’t exist before, is easy.
Converting the dream into a design is enlightening.
Fashioning the design into a prototype and testing is exhausting.
Forging the prototype into reality is a work of persistence, patience, crazy unstoppable will AND heavy doses of encouragement from friends!
So, thank YOU, friend!
YOU are part of something great here.
Without YOU… the dream of MSK-1 would not be THIS close to reality.
Your patience, trust and encouragement… have been LIFE to me.
Your MSK-1 is Coming Soon…
You Will Know Your MSK-1 is Coming - WHEN…
At some point in the weeks to follow, you will receive an email from us (via BackerKit) for you to confirm your SHIPPING ADDRESS. If your address has changed since your pledge or pre-order you NEED to fix it… Especially if you want your knife :)
Then, once we ship your MSK-1 System - You will receive an email notification, tracking info, etc.
MSK-1s will roll out of here (as I have said before) - FIRST to our Kickstarter Backers - THEN to those of you who have Pre-Ordered. We will ship (as best as we can) in the order that pledges and pre-orders were made.

MSK-1 Knife Update - We're ALMOST There!

Howdy friend,
MSK-1 production is going well… just not as fast as you OR I want. Hurdles, massive coordination, juggling and many contortions... However, everyone is busting their tails to get us the first 100 knives (and sheaths) - so we can start shipping soon.
I'm Crazy Picky (if you haven't already noticed)...
So, I received first "samples" of the MSK-1 Mini Sheaths last week!!! Although they were very good - there were 3 small things that “bugged” me about it. So I slept on it.
When I woke up, I knew I had to do something. I knew that NOT approving the sheath “samples" was going to cost an additional week of production - AND the additional cost to re-do the tooling.
But I couldn’t live with “almost right”...
We’ve come too far to start making exceptions in quality or design of ANY component in the MSK-1 Knife System.
So, of course - I had the MSK-1 Mini sheath manufacture re-work the tooling to get it exactly right.
I also made some “last minute” tweaks to the big black MSK-1 Kydex sheath. However these didn't cost any time, since the tooling was not finished yet. Whew!!!
Wow - What a Knife!
All that to say, I am now EXCEEDINGLY happy with the knife AND the sheaths. I LOVE the MSK-1 Mini Neck knives ~WOW!
In fact, I have 200 finished “Minis” here - just waiting for sheaths.
Testing the FIRST "Final" MSK-1...
Also, the “first sample” - MSK-1 (big knife) around 3 weeks ago. So, I have been testing it - and - just got back from a VERY cold winter training in the mountains (video coming soon to YouTube) where I used this knife.
And wow! It's WAY better than the “final” prototype you guys saw in the Kickstarter videos. Definite improvements to it’s fine cutting ability and balance.
Shipping Update
We are still hoping to ship out first knives by the end of next week (Week of the 20th). But everything is going to have to go perfect over the next week (you know, planets align and all of that)… so, I am hopeful - but realistic.
But in all honestly, first shipments may be delayed until the last week of February / first week of March. Followed by weekly shipments (as knives and sheath arrive here) until all Kickstarter and Pre-Orders are fulfilled.
But the bottom line is, we are SO very close. Delivery begins soon… and you’re going to LOVE this knife!
